Component of Computer

CPU. Memory Input Device Output Device.

CPU : = It stands for Center Processing Unit. It is the heart of the computer. The CPU processes all instructions and data. CPU is on a single electronic component the microprocessor chip, within the system unit or system cabinet. The CPU has two parts. The CU and ALU.

CU:= It stands for Control Unit. It directs the movement of electronic signals between memory, which temporarily holds date instructions and processed information.

ALU:= It stands for arithmetic logical unit; it performs two types of operations arithmetic and logical. Arithmetic operations are the fundamental mathematical operations consisting of additions, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Logical operations consist of comparisons. That is two pieces of data are compared to see whether one is equal to less than or greater than the other.

Memory :- It enables a computer to store at least temporarily, date and programs. It is also called primary storage or main memory. Memory has two types. A) ROM. B) RAM.

A). ROM:- It stands for Read Only Memory. That holds instructions for starting up the computer. The instruction is only read but no change. The ROM has three types.

i). PROM (Programmable read only memory)

ii). EPROM (erasable programmable read only memory)

iii). EEPROM (electrically erasable programmable read only memory)

B). RAM:- It stands for random access memory. It is the temporary memory of the computer. The RAM data can be change and remove. It is also called read and write memory. Most RAM is volatile which means that it requires a steady flow of electricity to maintain its content.
